Dr. Jeffrey Arnold  | Chief Innovation Officer, Entarian  Chief Innovation Officer at Entarian, leading the Innovation Foundry. Joined in 2024 from MITRE, where he was Chief Scientist for geoscience R&D in the Emerging Technologies Innovation Center. His 25-year federal career began in computational and experimental atmospheric chemistry at NOAA and USEPA labs, then a decade creating and leading the U.S. Army Engineer national research program turning field observations and continental-scale hydro-climatology models into engineering inputs for national water and energy security. Now focused on ML emulators and AI components that make massive Earth science and space weather datasets usable for decisions protecting U.S. public safety and prosperity. Ph.D. in tropospheric chemistry and physics, UNC Chapel Hill; 150+ peer-reviewed publications.

Richard talks to Patrick Scannell, author of The Disruption of Thought.  We used to build first and learn the cost later. Planes before aerodynamics, hospitals before understanding the systems inside them, wars before knowing the outcome.  That's over.  AI and data-infused simulation is becoming the operating layer of civilization,  the substrate beneath how we design, decide, and defend.
